Farmers are being invited to take part in a new study led by the University of Exeter looking at how moles are managed and what impact this has on soil health.
The research, based in Penryn, will focus on understanding how different approaches to mole control affect mole activity and the condition of the land. The team is particularly interested in hearing from those with hands-on experience of dealing with moles as part of their day-to-day work.
By speaking directly with farmers and pest controllers, the researchers hope to build a clearer picture of what methods are being used, what works well, and what challenges people are facing. The findings will help inform more practical and sustainable approaches to mole management in the future.
The project is being led by Dr Sarah Crowley and Dr Jules Dezeure, who are keen to work closely with people on the ground to ensure the research reflects real-world experience.
They are inviting anyone with relevant experience to get involved, whether through a short conversation or a more in-depth discussion. All insights will help shape the direction of the research.
