In January, Louise delivered two engaging workshops on sustainable farming, one at Duchy College Rosewarne and another at Stoke Climsland. Charlie also supported the sessions, bringing practical insights from a farmer’s perspective.
The sessions explored how farms can stay profitable while adapting to rising costs and changing government support. Participants learned why preparing for a future with fewer subsidies is essential and how farming with nature can strengthen both their business and their land.
The workshops were well attended, with participants asking lots of questions and actively engaging throughout. Attendees gained practical, easy-to-apply strategies to improve soils, reduce inputs, protect water, and boost biodiversity. Topics included smarter cultivation, nutrient management, and a realistic overview of organic farming, helping farmers weigh the costs, benefits, and long-term sustainability of their choices. Simple tools and apps to track environmental impact and farm inputs also proved very popular.
Louise and Charlie were delighted with the enthusiasm and engagement from participants and hope to deliver similar workshops in the future. A big thank you to Duchy College for hosting and Cornish Mutual for funding these sessions.
