Great Turnout for Farm Walk at Gwarth an Drae Farm

February 6, 2026

Over 30 people joined us for our recent farm walk at Gwarth an Drae Farm, Mawgan, bringing together a wonderful mix of ages and generations. From babies just a few weeks old to grandparents and beyond, it was fantastic to see what must have been four generations enjoying the day together.

By kind permission of D.C. & S.A. Martin and hosted by Ben and Alison Olds, attendees explored the 200-acre farm on the banks of the Helford River, along with a further 200 acres of off-lying land. Ben, who has managed the farm since 2017, shared insights into developing the Tresprison Limousin herd, introducing arable crops, and buying and finishing cattle.

The walk was followed by a well earned lunch of Gear Farm pasties, giving everyone the chance to relax, chat, and catch up.

A huge thank you to Wendy Nicholas for organising the visit, and to Mr David Martin, Ben and Alison Olds, and Josh for hosting and supporting such a welcoming and informative day. Events like these are a great opportunity to learn, connect, and spend time together as a farming community.

As the walk took place on Mind’s Time to Talk Day, it also served as a gentle reminder of how important it is to come together, reduce isolation, and create space for conversation. If you ever need advice, a chat, or just some company, we’re here to help.
