Free Farm Resilience Programme Launching in East Cornwall

October 19, 2026

We're pleased to be working with The Royal Countryside Fund to deliver a new Farm Resilience Programme in East Cornwall, starting on Wednesday 4th November.

The free programme is designed to help farming families strengthen their businesses, improve financial resilience and profitability, and plan confidently for the future.

With rising costs, changing agricultural policies, unpredictable markets and environmental pressures continuing to create challenges for farmers, finding time to step away from the day-to-day running of a farm and focus on the bigger picture can be difficult.

The Farm Resilience Programme offers an opportunity to do just that, bringing together around 20 local farm businesses for a series of four practical, interactive workshops led by agricultural specialists.

What will the programme cover?

The four workshops will explore key areas of farm business management:

  • Understanding the changing agricultural industry: Looking at current challenges, changes in agricultural policy, market conditions and opportunities for farm businesses.
  • Reviewing your options: Exploring financial performance, benchmarking, business efficiency and opportunities to improve productivity and profitability.
  • Turning ideas into action: Identifying priorities, exploring opportunities and developing practical plans for the future of your farm.
  • Planning for the future: Considering succession planning, financial security and preparing your farm business for the next generation.

As part of the programme, participating farms will also receive a one-to-one Business Health Check with one of Farm Cornwall's advisers. This will provide an opportunity to review their current business performance, identify strengths and areas for improvement, and explore practical steps to build a more resilient and profitable farm business.

The programme is designed to be practical, informal and relevant to the businesses taking part. It's also a chance to meet other local farmers, share experiences and learn from one another.

Participation is completely free, with food provided at each workshop. All types of farm businesses are welcome, and we encourage everyone involved in the business to take part, whether that's different generations of the farming family, partners or other members of the farm team. More than one person from each farm business is welcome to attend.

First Workshop – Wednesday 4th November

Our first workshop, What's Happening in the Agricultural Industry?, will be led by Peter Green and will explore the changing agricultural landscape, the challenges facing farm businesses and the opportunities available to help build resilience.

Venue: Menheniot Village Hall

Timings:

  • 6.15pm – Arrival
  • 6.30pm – Hot meal
  • 7.00pm – Workshop begins
  • 9.00pm – Finish

The remaining three workshops will take place over the coming months, covering a range of practical topics to help strengthen your farm business and plan for the future.
