Information correct at the date of this article.

DEFRA has announced the new Capital Grants fund has opened. The Capital Grants offer is designed to support those who manage the land to enhance biodiversity, protect natural resources and improve the landscape. For example, farmers will be able to apply for funding to plant hedgerows for biodiversity or a range of measures to improve water quality suchas new livestock equipment.

There are 78 items available through the Capital Grant offer, in the following 6 groups.

  • Air quality
  • Assessments
  • Boundaries, trees and orchards
  • Natural flood management
  • Improvements
  • Water quality
However there are funding limits which apply. More information can be found here

Item BN 16 Repairing Stone Walls is included under the category of Boundaries Trees and Orchards.

This item supports the restoration of traditional boundaries, such as dry-stone walls. It helps maintain the character of the local landscape and provides valuable habitats for small wildlife, such as beetles and nesting birds as well as preventing livestock from escaping
